I really appreciate the professionalism and patience you all showed during the Tournament Boot Camp at the MGM in Las Vegas last weekend. I was the newbie that asked a lot of newbie questions and got serious straight answers and explanations that I could understand and put into practice.
I was excited that I was able to take what was taught on Saturday and apply it during the student tournament Saturday night well enough to make it to the final table, although I went out 7th. I really thought Sunday would be a letdown, how could it compare to Saturday? However, I think I learned even more on Sunday because now I had a foundation to apply this new information to and it started to all make sense. I had mentioned to one of the instructors that I had never played a tournament before and had only played a little online poker.
After we wrapped up on Sunday I grabbed dinner and then entered the $80 buy-in Sunday night tournament at the MGM as did a few other recent Boot Camp grads.
I am pleased to tell you that 6 Boot Campers made the final table, 4 of us cashed and in the 2nd tournament I have ever played in I went heads-up with the big stack down 5 to 1 in chips, battled back to near even money and agreed to chop $2200 (50/50) for my first tournament cash. Thanks again, absolutely invaluable experience!
