Lee Childs is a 36-year-old poker professional from suburban Washington, DC. He is married and has no children. Childs holds a BBA in computer information systems from James Madison University in Virginia. In June 2007, he voluntarily took some time off from a high-tech position with a firm affiliated with the National Geographic Society. He worked on “The JASON Project,” which is an educational foundation for students dedicated to scientific expeditions and research. Childs had been on his own for about a month when he decided to pursue one of his dreams – play in the World Series of Poker. He did so in 2007 and ended up finishing seventh in the $10,000 buy-in Main Event. He won more than $705,000. Following the WSOP Main Event, Lee capped off 2007 with cashes in other tournaments for more than $120,000. He now has lifetime winnings of over $840,000. Lee attended a WPT Boot Camp in Atlantic City in April of 2007 and has now become the first WPT Boot Camp alumnus to become an instructor. Lee’s demeanor leads to teaching. He is cool and collected at the poker table and in front of the classroom.
